The development disabilities observed are Down syndrome, motor impairment or development delay of uncertain etiology. Home visits were carried out, which involved child assessments, maternal interviews and use of questionnaires. The child's type of disability was discovered to predict changes in maternal child-related and parental-related stress. Implications of the results for the science of have been discussed.
