500 | _aA young Maasai edges closer to the television as her grandfather glimpses a relative, now dead, on the screen. "Your head cannot bear to hear them, not your stomach. You cannot bare to hear the name of the one who is no longer visible". It's 1992. Melissa Davies returns to the Maasai village in Kenya to show the film she made in 1974. Watching it, the Maasai recall the past and the hardships they endured. They speak of their lovers, their hopes, their absolute faith in God, their fear of death. But things have changes since the director's last visit. "Now we have become timid", says one woman. "We are starting to live like the people who wear trousers. Let God protect us in this new life". | ||
