Presents discussions exploring the possibilities of sustainable responses to the growing refugee problem with reference to the Ikafe/Impevi settlement in Northern Uganda. Background information on the settlement and the environment are provided for clarity of the situation. The book discusses the work that Oxfam have conducted in the settlement with the aim of social construction and sustaining the refugees? livelihoods. It addresses the various policies in place that work against the settlement and the importance of communications work in the settlement. Organisational issues are also addressed before conclusions are drawn and recommendations suggested based on these and lessons learnt.
