The book examines disaster survival and bereavement experiences detailing the feelings, thoughts and behaviours of various patients with the aim of providing a ?territorial map? of different types of patients. It reviews literature on disaster management and the current state of knowledge in the area. The ways in which survivors should be dealt with are discussed along with ways in which the services should be organised for effectiveness. Methods of intervention discussed include consulting to traumatised groups, psychological debriefing and specific psychological treatments for post-traumatic stress reactions and pathological grief.
