Discusses the ethno-veterinary techniques practiced by the Samburu of Kenya in the control of livestock diseases. The methodology presented are meant to enable ethno-veterinary researchers screen for further trials, and make use of the reported remedies. It presents the results of interviews seeking to ascertain the details of the traditional medicines used to treat the most common diseases. The discussions explain the ingredients of the treatment used and their preparation, the route of administration, dosages, recovery time, precautions taken when using the treatments, availability of ingredients, harvesting and storage conditions, effectiveness of the treatment when used in human beings, and the general effectiveness of the treatment.
