N1  - Provides information on a longitudinal study that was carried out in Nyamisati, a village on the Eastern coast of Tanzania that included close monitoring of the malaria morbidity and four malariometric surveys that were conducted over a period of three years. The view of health seeking behaviour related to malaria in Nyamisati was compared to that of the people from a village, two hours canoe journey from a clinic. The results of this comparison revealed that immediate access to health care facilities significantly promoted early attendance at this health clinic, and this is considered an important factor in the prevention of malaria mortality in rural Africa
