Cook, R. J.

Women's health and human rights: The promotion and protection of women's health through international human rights law - Geneva World Health Organisation 1994 - vii, 62p.

Discusses women?s health from the perspective of a lawyer by examining the international human rights treaties suggesting action to improve women?s health. It suggests that the health disadvantages experienced by women such as maternal mortality can be classified as injustices. It attributes the low status attribute to women to the social roles they are required to perform which often result in denial of rights. Ways in which their rights are violated in modern society are discussed along with ways in which these violations can be dealt with.
