Provides strategies that are related to AIDS management and intends to promote informed, positive thinking and practical action, by several sections of society, in dealing with AIDS. Reveals that AIDS management involves both care and prevention, for which an effective framework is required, and such a framework exists in Africa in the rural areas, known as the extended family that is seen as an extremely resilient social institution. Discusses several issues such as HIV prevalence, integrated AIDS management, and HIV testing and counseling. Concludes that the management of AIDS begins with caring for individuals infected with HIV.
