Responds to the recommendation of the 49th session of the Regional Committee for Africa requesting WHO to develop a comprehensive strategy on traditional medicine. Aims at contributing to the achievement of health for all in the African region by optimizing the use of traditional medicine. Develops a framework for integration of the positive aspects of traditional medicine into health systems and services and also viable local industries to improve access to traditional medicines. Addresses the need to strengthen and develop traditional medicine and integrate it into the national health systems of Member States.
