The humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia was complicated and compounded by many factors that need an integrated response. As a recent USAID Tufts report stressed, famine is not an event but an accumulation of a process that has led to increasing vulnerability. It is crucial that a more nuanced and holistic response is implemented to guarantee much-needed investments in human development and protection of people's livelihoods to ensure families, especially children, can grow up to their full potential and live with dignity.
