Examines the relationship between AIDS and politics while analysing political responses to the AIDS epidemic globally. Looks at the capacity of political institutions in dealing with the disease on a national level while examining the inter-relationship between democracy and AIDS. Highlights developments made with regards to AIDS response while comparing successes achieved in Uganda and South Africa and also provides examples of AIDS response policies developed in Brazil and Asia. Examines the role played by civil society organizations in AIDS responses from a local to a global perspective and back to local.
