Presents an assessment that was carried out in order to upgrade Malakal referral hospital in South Sudan.Discusses the health policy developed by Government of South Sudan in which provision of a basic package for health services would be the cornerstone of the health system of South Sudan.Looks at the challenges faced at the hospital which include inadequate staff, inadequate drugs and equipment.The report recommends that the Government should develop and implement continous prefessional development for the different carders of health workers, establishment of a health management information system and provide appropriate tools for its implementation.
