Examines developing and putting into practice evidence-based guidelines for family planning. Presents guidance on safe and successful methods of contraceptive use that are considered medically appropriate. There are selected practice suggestions based on good available evidence also presented and they are meant to be put to use by policy-makers, programme managers and the scientific community. Suggestions provided are the product of a process that ended in an expert Working Group meeting held at the World Health Organization, Geneva, 13-16 April, 2004.
