A profile of the children and women of Eastern and Southern Africa that identifies and analyses trends and issues that are of significance to UNICEF activities. The issues discussed in this profile are poverty, women?s and children?s health, nutrition, education, development, urbanisation, children in difficult circumstances, conflicts and wars. Each chapter identifies initiatives that suggests can help alleviate the existing circumstances or improve them. It also suggests that the only way for Africa?s needs to be met is through the full participation of the governments, their development partners and Africa?s people.
