Discusses the importance of training teachers in reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. The role of the teachers in providing sex education is addressed with regards to the African context where discussions on sex are considered taboo in most communities. Case studies from Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe have been used to illustrate the impact that teacher training has had on creation of awareness and health knowledge, attitudes and practices. Aspects of reproductive health and HIV/AIDS to be included in the curriculum are explained and their importance mentioned.
