Presents discussions about supply and access to clean drinking water based on case studies of projects undertaken in different parts of the world. Sources of water are examined and ways of accessing the water illustrated. It suggests that despite the abundance of water in some areas, it requires processing to make it safe for human consumption. The processes involved in water purification are addressed and ways of making them simpler and useful to poor societies are discussed.
