The book discusses the resilience that enables children adapt to difficult situations. It provides a brief history of resilience explaining how it has been studies in the past and presenting the findings of various research studies. The factors to consider and the criteria to use in judging adaptation are discussed with regards to the family and the community. Also discussed are the findings on protective and vulnerability processes, limitations of resilience, and implications of interventions to future directions.
