Examines ways in which decentralisation can be used to foster rural development that is environmentally and socially sustainable. The book reviews the aims of decentralisation with focus on transfer of power and its impact on the quality of outcome. The challenges that arise in the process are suggested and examined coming up with ways in which these can be overcome.
