Presents a review of the implementation of primary health care (PHC) systems in Mpulamanga discussing the impact that it has had on the health services. The service, organisation and management of the PHC systems are explained mentioning the philosophies behind the changes and the role of the communities in health development. The framework for PHC service implementation is outlined mentioning the different programmes available in the area. Information systems monitoring and evaluation are explained with emphasis on their importance. Based on the conclusions drawn recommendations for future action are suggested.
