Provides information on the status and implications of pesticide resistance in mosquitos and other arthropod vectors, particularly in geographical areas where diseases such as malaria, filariasis, leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis are significant public health problems. Discusses several strategies for resistance management in the context of integrated vector control. Methods for detecting and monitoring pesticide resistance are evaluated and specific recommendations made for the improvement of World Health Organization test kits, with provision of a revised list of diagnostic dosages and exposure items.
