Examines enrolment terms, participation, completion and pupil drop out rates to establish the impact of HIV/AIDS on primary school education. The study took into consideration gender perspectives, traditional gender roles and prevailing cultural patterns of the communities around the schools. The book presents discussions of the study findings which suggest that not only are children orphaned but they are also infected by the disease. It discusses the increased AIDS mortality and attributes it to early marriages, illicit sex trade among others. The study conducted in two districts with different cultural and ethnic backgrounds provides comparisons that illustrate the need for specifically targeted awareness campaigns.
