These are guidelines aimed at improving the status of women locally and internationally based on the themes of equality, development and peace. The paper discusses how each of these themes can be applied for instance in employment, education, science and technology. It discusses how women are affected by armed conflict, apartheid, the women and children in Palestine, special groups of women and international and regional cooperation. A historical background of the forward looking strategies and the trends and perspectives of the year 2000 are also provided.
