Provides a review of the mycrobacteria, their place in the environment, ways in which they interact with the living host, the nature of the diseases they cause, and the available means of diagnosing, preventing and curing these diseases. The introduction examines publications of general and historical interest whereas the following chapters describe the genus Mycobacterium, the species of mycrobacteria, their diagnosis, immunology, epidemiology and control. The bacterial diseases discussed in detail are leprosy and tuberculosis.
