How growing trees gives women status, independence and an income. The story based in Machakos district in eastern province. The area is semi arid and has big water problem. During august to November water is scarce as the rivers have dried up. Green belt movement non government organization started a compaign for tree planting to stop desertification. In the project women are the participants. Men have moved to urban areas to look for jobs.
