| General note | Explains the processes that take place during the training of community health workers. Describes a community health worker as an individual who is chosen by the community and trained on health and development issues in order to act as a link between the community and the health care system. Highlights some of the roles of community health workers among them being; educating the community on common health problems and how to prevent them, participating in community mobilization and taking part in health campaigns towards better health care,management of common minor ailments affecting the community, providing guidance and leadership in the community on health and development related matters. Describes the selection criteria of CHWs, the nature of employment and incentives given to them, the performance assessment procedures etc. gives details of some of the skills that are vital for a CHW to possess as well as some of the areas they should be familiar with in human anatomy. |
