500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note Discussions focusing on what happens to children whose parents die of HIV infections. The book reviews how the HIV infection affects the children from the time the parent(s) are ailing to the time they die and then as they wait to see what will happen to them. It claims that although some infected parents plan for their children’s future, a majority do not leaving the orphaned children without any designated guardian. These children are therefore forced into illegal activities or into foster homes. It suggests that HIV care programmes need to cross traditional boundaries, improve interagency communications and establish new collaborative relationships aimed at caring for the HIV orphaned children.
