| General note | Explains basic steps that can be applied in the maintenance and repair of laboratory, diagnostic, imaging equipment used in hospitals. It highlights the functions performed by the different equipment in the provision of health care and mentions the importance of having equipment of the best possible standards. The aim of maintenance is to ensure that equipment attains the standard performance characteristics set by the hospital, the manufacturer’s specifications and the clinical requirements.
