Gives information on a study that was carried out in three districts in Kenya where Maendeleo Ya Wanawake (MYWO) with assistance from the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH) is using an Alternative Rite of passage programme in an attempt to work with communities to eliminate this traditional practice. Discusses the implementation of this programme and its effect on community health knowledge.
